LLL- Madoka Custom Commission by Ai-Bee LLL- Madoka Custom Commission by Ai-Bee
:iconcuteheartz: A custom lalaloopsy of Madoka Kaname for :iconwaii-neko-shojo: :iconcuteheartz:
Hope you like it, nekoshojo! Gonna ship her out soon.

Quite the perfect way to start of Februrary, huh? All that pink and purple and hearts and valentine's and magical girl suffering omg anyway

Took about a week overall. I didn't actually plan on or think to offer these customs until I was approached with a commission offer, but I can't say I mind... This was exceptionally fun to do and I learned a lot! I like posting these WIP dumps because LLL customs are kind of few and far between so I'm happy to share my process for any aspiring customizers. :)

I wouldn't mind if you wanted to try to make your own custom of Madoka using the same base and steps and whatnot, since neither the loopsy base or the character are mine, but I'd be pretty bummed if you didn't link back to this deviation to share your inspiration source. Aha, if that's not too much to ask.

Check out my other LLL Customs here:

Check out larger versions of the bottom finished photos on my tumblr

Puella Magi Madoka Magica (c) SHAFT/Aniplex
Disclaimer: I would happily paint any light-skinned lalaloopsy to be any PoC if that's what was called for.
This doll specifically fit the outfit Madoka is wearing and her hairstyle. :)

I'm uploading this all sneakily at 1 in the morning, oh. :ninja:
Thank you for the favorites, comments, and watches! Gonna tackle my comments soon here, just wanted to get this up in a timely manner. Goodnight now!

Is there any way you can make another anime character by using Lalaloopsy dolls? :O 'Cause this is amazing. No joke.

Probably! It just depends on the doll you use as a base and how close it is to the character you want to do. Unfortunately the hairstyles and outfits are fairly limited and I haven't done head-swapping yet, but that's also an option to get a closer combo. But it's definitely possible.
Thank you!

What kind of clay did you use for the add-on stuff?

:iconai-bee:
Ai-Bee Featured By Owner Jun 5, 2013  Hobbyist Digital Artist
homemade cold porcelain, though I believe you can buy it in tubs as well :)
baked clay wouldn't work since baking the lalaloopsy with it is a bad idea. :giggle:

Would Bee or anyone be willing to share some ideas on which LLL doll would be a good fit for Sayaka?

I'd most likely go with Rosy Bumps and Bruises for Sayaka. [link] You could either sand down her hat or leave it, but the bows would probably have to stay if you're not confident in sanding those out too.

Snowy fairest's winter version is a more readily available alternative as well, if you don't mind the outfit looking a little bigger on her than normal: [link]

The only trick is to find a cheap enough Rosy. She's a whopping 20 on Amazon when they retail for 6.99 in stores. :( Unless you're willing to spend that much, of course!

Thanks! Great ideas!

How difficult would it be to sand the hat and/or bows off? And also, where did you get the porcelain? (Sorry for all the questions!)

I couldn't be sure, I haven't had to sand anything off yet myself- but it definitely seems doable with a very rough sandpaper. Experimenting is all I could suggest! Then use a softer grain sandpaper to smooth out the spot on her head.
Also, I made the cold porcelain myself- you can find the recipe here [link] :) It can take a bit to get just the right mixture, and the batch I made dries VERY fast because I work with tiny pieces, so you have to be quick.

You can also buy similar air-dry clay if you want to start with something more accessible, but I haven't tested its stickiness on LLL plastic (very important) yet so it'd be up to you to experiment! [link]

It's no trouble at all! I hope it helps you :D

Thank you so much! I finished! I ended up using Crumbs Sugar Cookie for Sayaka to avoid sanding, but also because her dress really fit Sayaka's costume a lot, plus her hair was the right length. I'll add another comment with a link!

No, you're definitely not the only one- because everyone has to make that comparison at least once on something LLL related, and it's actually rather annoying. :|
