Ah, I'm beat! It's been a while, or at least it feels that way... I feel like I've been dead on here for yeaarsss even if I posted not too long ago...! DA YOU MUST MAKE ME FEEL ALIVE SOMEHOW I GUESS. OBVIOUSLY.
Despite that, I'm going to ramble like a wise old maid reminiscing her golden days. *rests hands on cane and sways in creaky rocking chair on the porch*
So, sometime last November, I really wanted to write and thumbnail a one-shot in one go. Not necessarily all in one sitting, but I wanted to see if I could honestly get myself to focus on one project, one short term goal, before I had the chance to trash it or lose interest. Storytelling has always been both my ultimate dream and my kryptonite. Somehow, doing comics from start to finish really intimidates me, and I probably dream in gold coated grandeur, setting standards far too high for myself... Such is the fate of a perfectionist! *hackcoughs and adjusts dentures* But anyway, I created Sara and Sam back then and called the one shot Picture This. I thumb-nailed a thirty page comic about them, as well as getting all the pages' layouts decided and ready to be drawn on. I ultimately completed the first half of my goal, but I never actually ended up drawing the damn thing. There it sat for over six months, reminding me that I'm one hell of a half baked cookie. BUT THEN SUDDENLY! *WAVES CANE* Tyshea, after a heart to heart and a few bursts of inspiration, suggested I give this a go again, but as a collaboration. We both just want to tell stories so badly, but felt stuck or intimidated by the stories we have set up, the workload we created for ourselves. It wouldn't be anything too big or flashy, just... Something simple, but fulfilling. We both really really like thinking up girl love stories (am I allowed to tell them that, ty, because I just did) and together had this wonderful plethora of ideas, so here we are. We've been working away in our private cave up in the mountains on a whole lot of conception, and I guess we're caving in now and posting some stuff we've been doing/have done. AND THAT'S HOW YOU WERE BORN, MY DEAR GRANDCHILD- oh wait ANYWAY, let's learn about the cast, I'm done spouting nonsense.
--- PT: Side A --- [meet my girls, from left to right]
Sara McCauley, 18: Something between the geek punk, and emo cliques, Sara is a smart but generally unmotivated girl with a bit of an inaccurate reputation. who tends to keep to herself if she's not joking around with (or getting dragged around by) the few friends she keeps. Though she's mature about keeping her life in order, it seems to always still be so restless around her, especially when she finds herself admiring the school's star tennis player more and more.
Stella Haryadi, 26: Stella is a very engaging, beautiful, and alluring fashion student, eagerly striving to pursue her passion. She's feminine and delicate in her mannerisms, and even perhaps a bit shy and mysterious about some things. After a long relationship dry-spell, she's begun to take the plunge again into the dating scene, with hopes of finding her very own, all-accepting "prince charming."
Jessica "Jess" Acosta, 18: Jessica, or Jess, is essentially a prince in a girl's body, being suave, calm, and collected. She's athletic, has impressive grades, and is an apt socializer, so girls tend to naturally flock to her. Being transplanted from her big city life back to the small countryside town she'd nearly forgotten has left her struggling with who she wants to be, who she needs to be, and who she wants others to see. But the thing she may actually have needed the most might've been waiting for her the whole time.
Monica Ellesworth, 23: Mona is a hardworking, responsible, and positive young woman who has finally dipped into the college scene to branch away from home. She's sunny and open-minded, and does her best to make her friendliness contagious to those around her. Though she's been very proud and optimistic about herself and her future through high-school, going to college for fashion has introduced her to a silent but very real insecurity about her body, as well as her confidence in seeking out people she's interested in.
